The Project
What does the project aim to achieve?
The project aims to utilise the satellite bandwidth pool technology to set up a network where the partner institutions can share experience and expertise in the field of cultural heritage. This regional relationship contributes to the three main objectives as outlined in the Barcelona Declaration, 1995, leading to peaceful cooperation, the construction of shared prosperity, as well as to the understanding between cultures in a social, cultural and human collaboration.
In particular, IKONOS, aims to promote the inter cultural and inter-religious dialogue, the development of human resources in the cultural heritage field through the implementation of cultural and educational programmes respecting the various cultural identities as well as to emphasise the role of the media for the promotion of knowledge and mutual comprehension between cultures.
