Sub Project 5

Long Term Capacity Building - training future distance node tutors for practicum sessions

What are the specific objectives of this subproject?

What methodology has been adopted for the success of this sub-project?

Following the launch of the Introductory Course to Mediterranean Cultural Heritage drawn up by the Malta Centre for Restoration, and transmitted via distance technology to the partner countries, continuous monitoring and response measurement were carried out. This served to enhance the educational principles of the distance-learning package and to pave the way for further improvements to the system. Four courses each having a span of 14 days (8 hour days) were transmitted to four partner countries, including Greece, Morocco, Jordan and Algeria. These courses comprised of a theoretical and practical component, and were filmed and recorded for documentation purposes. Students had the possibility to interact with the conservation experts who were training them for the duration of the courses. Measurement responses and other monitoring methods including observation were recorded and analysed. These analyses gave an indication of the future recommendations and solutions for the adjustments to the distance learning programmes, with particular reference to the cultural heritage sector.
