ICT Server Room at the Malta Centre for Restoration

The IKONOS project utilises the latest video-conferencing technology complete with studio quality equipment and satellite feeds producing an excellent video conferencing connection. This enhances the communication over long distances allowing the transmission and reception of real time video.

Each site has a video-conferencing suite equipped with cameras, microphones, loudspeakers and monitors. Malta acts as the regional hub of the network.


Satellite Encoders at the Malta Centre for Restoration

The state of art video equipment allows decoding and encoding of MPEG2 quality video output. The IP based network uses high quality routing equipment for a real time video and audio transmission. The network is currently connected to a private satellite network system, but has the capability to connect to remote sites over the internet and Virtual Private Networks.
